VIJAYAWADA: The process of certificate verification for the candidates who have secured State-level ranks in the NEET UG 2018 began at Dr NTR University of Health Science (NTRUHS) here on Tuesday. Candidates from all special categories, Osmania University (OU) Area, Telangana reserved categories and Krishna district can get their certificates verified at the university, which will be held till June 30.
According to NTRUHS officials, the process commenced with verification of the certificates of the candidate who has secured the 8th all-India NEET rank and topper in the State category. Around 1,000 candidates got their certificates verified on the first day. A total of 13,370 candidates have enrolled for State medical counselling, which is over 50 per cent less than that of the previous year. In 2017, of the 32,392 qualified, nearly 29,000 enrolled for counselling.
This year, of the 39,051 candidates who have qualified in the NEET, only 13,370 have registered for medical counselling. As the State entered the national pool quota this year, the number of registrations have come down, say university officials. Counselling centres have been set up in Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Guntur, Tirupati and Kurnool.
The process will be done in a single phase from June 26 to June 30. The candidates whose certificates are verified can exercise options from June 27 to July 1. After the seat allocation, the candidates have to pay tuition fees at the respective colleges and confirm their admission.
“All the registered candidates are advised to attend certificate verification process in the allotted cities. There will not be another phase of certificate verification. All are requested to carry required documents to the counselling centres.” said S Appala Naidu, Registrar of NTRUHS.
