Tirupati: TTD Board yet to decide on exhibition of Lord’s jewels

It was decided to take up the issue again in the next meeting and seek the opinion of the Agama Advisory Board about the permissibility of such a move as per the 'sastras'.

VIJAYAWADA: The TTD Trust Board members once again discussed the issue of exhibiting the jewels and ornaments of Lord Venkateswara on Tuesday, but did not come to a decision. It was decided to take up the issue again in the next meeting and seek the opinion of the Agama Advisory Board about the permissibility of such a move as per the 'sastras', TTD Chairman Sudhakar Yadav said.

He also said that they did not receive any reply from Ramana Dheekshithulu to the legal notice served to him by the TTD.

It has five members who advise the TTD on the matters related to rituals, kainkaryams, the conduct of Brahmotsavams and other festivals, construction or renovation activity on the temple premises and others.

OTHER DECISIONS:

The meeting also ratified the 102 decisions that were taken and implemented by the TTD during the absence of a Trust Board.

* A committee was formed to dispose of the coins collected from the hundi

* The Board sanctioned Rs 32 crore for gold plating of Vimana Gopuram (rooftop of the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati.

* Rs 15 crore was sanctioned for construction of more modern washrooms, toilets in Tirumala

* Sanctioned Rs 36 crore for the ongoing works including laying of roads to develop Ontimitta Kodanda Ramalayam in Kadapa district. Another Rs 5,25 crore sanctioned for construction of an amenities complex.

* Appoint 12 archakas in the temple from hereditary Pradhana Arachaka families.

* The TTD will take legal opinion on receiving foreign currency as donation

* Rs 25 lakh grant sanctioned to renovate Chennakesava temple in Duddukuru village in Prakasam district

* Rs 125 crore earmarked to 'Divya Darshan Scheme' being implemented by the State government.

* Rs 75 lakhs sanctioned to construct a community hall at Moda village in Parigi mandal of Anantapuram district. Another Rs 75 lakh sanctioned to construct community hall at Roddakamaba temple in the same district.

* To construct another amenities complex at Tirumala at an estimated cost of Rs 79 crore.

* TTD, during 2017-18, earned a revenue of Rs 132 crore through sale of human hair
