Vijayawada: CPM leader interacts with Chronic Kidney Disease patients

Speaking to media persons on the occasion, he said the increasing number of kidney diseases’ victims in Krishna district is alarming.

VIJAYAWADA:  CPM Politburo member BV Raghavulu demanded State Government come to the rescue of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) victims in Krishna district, as the increasing number of cases is a grave concern. Raghavulu, who visited Diplanagar Tanda, Mansingh Tanda, and Cheemalapadu in A Konduru mandal, and Narikampadu, Anumulakna villages in Gampalagudem mandal of Krishna district along with CPM leader Ch Babu Rao and DV Krishna on Thursday, was moved by their plight after interacting with the victims and was moved by their plight.

Speaking to media persons on the occasion, he said the increasing number of kidney diseases’ victims in Krishna district is alarming.“It is more prevalent in western parts of the district. There are about 1000 people suffering from CKD. Unfortunately, Government is not being serious about it,” he said. Pointing out the large number of cases in A Konduru mandal, the CPM leader questioned the lack of dialysis units.

“Government should immediately provide safe drinking water facilities and arrange one dialysis unit per mandal in the district,” he demanded. He wanted the government to provide 20 litres of water per house in the affected villages every day, and stressed the need for correct diagnosis of the disease. He also said free treatment and medicine should be provided to the patients. “Most importantly, the groundwater in the affected villages should be tested,” he added.
