VIJAYAWADA: The State government is gearing up for organising the upcoming F1H2O international powerboat racing, which is going to take place in Krishna river from November 16 to 18, on a grand note so as to get international credentials to the new capital Amaravati.

According to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, if such international events are organised in city, the new capital is bound to get acknowledged internationally. The Group of Ministers (GoM) formed under the Chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister (Home) N Chinna Rajappa met at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Monday and reviewed the arrangements made for the event. At least one lakh people are expected to turn up to witness the competition and officials of police department have been told to take precautionary measures by bringing additional forces from other parts of the State.

Stating that Krishna district Collector and Vijayawada Police Commissioner will have the responsibility of ensuring a smooth conduct of the event, Chinna Rajappa said that they will also be responsible for the safety of around 300 representatives from abroad who will attend the programme.

Underscoring the need for better coordination among officials organising the event, he said that every official should discharge their duty with responsibility since the CM is keen on the event’s success.
