Special classes to help SSC students brace for exams

Some municipal and model schools have already categorised students and begun giving special coaching to them.

VIJAYAWADA: District Education officers (DEO) are going to introduce coaching classes for Class 10 students, who are about to appear for their SSC examinations. The classes, aimed at helping students secure high marks, will commence from December 1. With the examinations approaching, the officials have directed headmasters of all government schools to ensure that their students have their basics clear and are prepared to appear for the examinations. 

Currently, Summative Assessment (SA) 1 is taking place and based on students’ performance, they will be categorised and offered special coaching. The State officials have instructed school authorities to conduct additional coaching, two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening, for Class 10 students. 

In addition, all municipal schools were told that over 50 per cent of their students should 10/10 GPA in public examination, and that the schools should have a 100 per cent pass percentage. In the previous year, nearly 6 lakh students appeared for SSC examinations and less than 3,000 from government schools secured 10/10 GPA.

Speaking to TNIE, K Ravi Kumar, Deputy DEO of Krishna district said, “We instructed all schools to conduct revision classes. Also, after the completion of SA 1, students would be assessed and special attention would be given to those who need it.”
