HYDERABAD: Vijayawada is bracing up for another international event. After successfully hosting the F1H2O powerboat race, the denizens will now be witnessing a spectacular air show.

The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority (APTA) is all set to host the three-day Air Show 2018 from November 23 at Berm Park. The event is expected to be attended by one lakh spectators. Pilots from across the globe will be performing dizzy manoeuvres that will fill the sky with colourful trails of smoke. The tourism department will be holding the event in association with the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Apart from the event from November 23 to 25, trial runs will be held on November 21 and 22. On all the five days, the air show will be held for a duration of 15 minutes -- 11 am to 11.15 am and 4 pm to 4.15 pm.

To attract more visitors, the tourism department is planning to organise various events on the days and as part of it, the visitors will be able to avail special packages for visiting Bhavani Island.

APTDC Managing Director Himanshu Shukla said, “The air show is one among the several events planned between June 2018 and March 2019. Others include beach and kite festivals, and music and dance concerts. This is the most anticipated event after F1H2O,” he said.

On the final day, the visitors will witness a colour show of fire crackers, Himanshu Shukla said, adding the arrangements were being that will not only enhance the image of Amravati but also of the AP Tourism Authority.

The last year’s introductory programme was part of the India Aviation Summit. It was jointly organised by the Union Civil Aviation Ministry and FICCI to discuss the problems plaguing India’s aviation sector and devising solutions to enhance regional air connectivity.
Its highlight was aerobatics by multiple award winning UK-based team Global Stars.
