VIJAYAWADA: The Group of Ministers (GoM) dealing with land allotment under the ambit of the AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) approved the allocation of 126 acres to 20 institutions on Wednesday. However, lands allotted to institutions earlier will be cancelled if they do not respond to notices issued for the delay in the launch of works, it said.
The GOM--headed by Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu--allotted 50 acres to Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, 25 acres for the housing of accredited journalists and 5.56 acres were given to Bharat Scouts and Guides. According to a press note issued by the government, prices of the lands were fixed between Rs 10 lakh per acre and Rs 4 crore per acre, depending on the institution. The GOM resolved to fix the per-acre cost of the land to be given to NABARD at Rs 2 crore.
The press release added lands were allotted to Ramakrishna Mission, Higher Education Department, AP Fibernet, Canara Bank, Vijaya Bank, Amaravati Educational and Cultural Academy, AP Financial Systems and Services, AP State Disaster Response and Fire Services and some private institutions.
After the meeting, Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana, a member of the GOM and vice-chairman of the APCRDA, said: “The GOM has examined the proposals and decided to allot 126 acres of land to 20 institutions. Previously, 1,374.96 acres of land was allocated to 85 institutions. While the institutions were supposed to pay Rs 506 crore, the APCRDA received Rs 386 crore so far. If the institutions don’t launch the works after being given the land, we will serve notices. If they don’t respond, we will take back the lands,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Narayana inspected the ongoing works in the capital region. He said the State government would invite tenders for construction of the permanent Assembly by the end of November. “The only structure for which we have not floated tenders is the permanent Assembly, which is a 9.5-lakh square feet structure.”
Talking about the progress in construction of houses for MLAs/MLCs, the minister observed that slab works pertaining to 720 units of 3,340 were done.
