Upgraded citizen’s charter office inaugurated in Vijayawada

City Mayor Koneru Sreedhar along with Municipal Commissioner J Nivas inaugurated the facility at the VMC office here on Thursday. 

VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has come up with an upgraded citizen’s charter to offer 17 types of services such as issuing of birth and death certificates, D&O Trade license, pension to eligible persons and sanctioning of subsidised loans. City Mayor Koneru Sreedhar along with Municipal Commissioner J Nivas inaugurated the facility at the VMC office here on Thursday. 

Sreedhar said that the new citizen’s charter, which will come into effect immediately, will have 21 counters that highlight the standards of service delivery and also an avenue for grievance redressal for empowering citizens, he said.

The air condition facility will soon be developed at the citizen’s charter, he added. VMC additional commissioner (general) D Chandrasekhar, Chief engineer P Adiseshu, deputy mayor G Venkata Ramana Rao and others were also present at the event.

Stadium renovation
Sreedhar said that civic body has been renovating Chennupati Ramakotaiah Indoor stadium, Patamata at an estimated cost of Rs 9 crore to host national sporting events. As part of the renovation works, the stadium will be facilitated with volleyball, badminton and tennis courts to conduct various tournaments.
