Facilities upgraded at Tirupati railway station

The South Central Railway (SCR) has upgraded facilities provided to its passengers in view of the increasing number of people travelling for pilgrimage.

VIJAYAWADA: The South Central Railway (SCR) has upgraded facilities provided to its passengers in view of the increasing number of people travelling for pilgrimage. At an estimated cost of Rs 11 crore, five-start facilities have been developed at Tirupati Railway Station. 

According to an official release, the facilities include a new waiting hall, open for all, on platform numbers 4 and 5. The hall, which has a seating capacity of 210, has been constructed over 1,200 square meter area. It also has high speed Wi-fi and Led TV facilities. A spacious clock room has has also been constructed on platform number 1 with an area of 100 square meter. 

Around 50 steel racks have installed in the room for passengers’ luggage. Improvements have been made to the existing booking office, announcement facility and display boards etc. In addition, one premium lounge has been developed over 350 square meters on platform number 1 with state of the art facilities at an approximate cost of Rs 1.06 crore. 

A host of facilities are available for rail users in this lounge. These facilities include comfortable waiting facility with spacious, separate rooms for men and women, free internet, cold and hot beverages, newspapers/magazines, TV/instrumental music, washroom, locker/luggage rack etc.
