Royal Challengers opener Gayle reportedly has ruled himself out of IPL-7 after he injured his shoulder during the match against Rajasthan Royals last Sunday.

Gayle was manning the backward point as he fell hard on his left shoulder in his effort to stop an Ajinkya Rahane shot from reaching the boundary. The West Indian was immediately given the medical help after he was escorted out of the ground.

Gayle had already missed a couple of matches due to his hamstring injury and teething back problems. The star batsman's exit might prove costly to the Bangalore side as it is reeling under the bottom of the points table.

Earlier, RCB lost Nic Maddinson due to injury.

The IPL technical committee had approved replacements of three injured players for the 2014 season of the cash-rich event during the UAE leg.

"Dwayne Bravo (Chennai Super Kings), Nic Maddinson (Royal  Challengers Bangalore) and Nathan Coulter-Nile (Delhi Daredevils) have all suffered injuries which mean that they will play no further part in the season," the IPL said in a statement.

"In accordance with the IPL Player Regulations, the three franchises may take a replacement player from the list of 798 players who registered for the 2014 IPL Player Auction but were not taken in the auction," it added.
