Her love for animals led her to volunteer

Her love for all creatures, big and small, led Sai Aishwarya Chirla to plan weekend visits to Bluecross. She is now volunteering for the organisation and takes care of stray, abandoned and injured dogs. The Class XII student of Delhi Public School, Hyderabad, says, “Many owners buy pedigree dogs and abandon them when they realise that the dog has turned blind or has contracted skin diseases. These animals go into depression much like humans and we step in to give them company. We also have dogs who have lost limbs due to accidents on the road.” The MBBS aspirant enjoys the time spent de-ticking, shampooing and grooming sessions. “One would think that the mother is usually protective about her litter but that is not the case. Like humans, dogs enjoy company,” says Aishwarya. She also pitches in for various campaigns by the organisation and hopes to have a long innings with her new friends.
