It is not everyday that you see young men and women in the country saying no to cozy jobs and moving on to explore their creative energies to earn a living. Kashyap Swaroop, 22, a Civil engineering graduate from NMIMS, also worked as a freelance content consultant for startups before starting Lowfundwala. His sister, Adra Swaroop, was an initial co-founder and worked as the creative director. A trained psychologist and passionate filmmaker who has worked in movies like Ship of Theseus, Gulabi Gang and Gangoobai, Adra is now busy pursuing a career in films and not a part of Lowfundwala. The company is mentored by Mona Raina, 35, who is also an investor. Mona holds an MBA in Business Strategy from INSEAD, Paris and has a plethora of experience in business strategy in different fields.

The company was incorporated in August this year and has four employees now, including the founders. Lowfundwala is the company you should approach when you need an attention-grabbing promotional video to promote your company. The play of words on the name of the company is proof enough that budget-conscious clients flock here.

Kashyap says, “We are a startup’s startup. We believe in the power of stories and how it can move people. Lowfundwala does everything from conceptualisation to post-production of the project.” The team has worked with more than 19 startups and have got the bragging rights for executing over 40 projects in the short time that they have been operational.

Mona adds, “We offer a variety of video services including User Experience (UX) videos, Promo Videos, Explainer Videos, Vox Pop Videos, Micro Videos (Vines, Instagrams) and an entire array of Live Action and Animated videos. We use high-end hardware and industry grade software for our projects.

“We usually take 21 days on average to get a video ready. But there have been times when we have had to sit for hours on end to understand the clients’ requirements. Given the variable nature of the project, our videos start from as little as Rs 15,000 to Rs 3 lakh. We have also done a few projects pro bono for a few startups.”

On working with clients, Kashyap says the incredible response to their first video for Flat.to helped them bag Instamojo, Directi and Haptik as clients. Some of the other notable clients are Shopclues, CommonFloor, Option Three Consulting and Times Group’s Dineout.

Lowfundwala’s video for the company Commonfloor evinced a lot of interest from various quarters. The video was CommonFloor’s idea of a tribute to Mumbai. It took a month to make and four days of shooting to complete. You can view the video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1EP1lFpmaw.

Started with a seed capital of Rs 45,000, the founders want Lowfundwala to be thought of as a funny, witty and resourceful brand. They are aiming to clock revenues of Rs 40lakh in their first year.
