XLRI hosts
finance symposium
The Finance Association of XLRI recently hosted GNOSIS 2016 — XLRI’s Annual Finance Symposium in Mumbai. The theme for this year’s event was Changing Landscape of Banking and Financial Services. The symposium is hosted every year by XLRI to promote a platform for interaction between academia and industry leaders to discuss relevant issues and challenges faced by the industry as well as finding solutions to them.  P S Jayakumar, MD and CEO, Bank of Baroda delivered the key note address at the summit. This was followed by a panel discussion on asset quality challenges and capital adequacy issues faced by Indian banks by four eminent panelists. The second panel discussion was on FinTech and its various implications.

APF announces fellowships
Azim Premji Foundation has announced its annual fellowship programme. Applications for this programme are open to people with 3 to 10 years of work experience, with a postgraduate or a professional degree in any discipline and the desire to contribute to quality and equity in education. Proficiency in the local language is a must and candidates should be open to relocate to the districts where Azim Premji Foundation operate. The monthly stipend would be `28, 800.

EDII collaborates with East London Univ  

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), an acknowledged national resource institute for entrepreneurship education, research, training and institution building, has collaborated with University of East London (UEL) to promote social entrepreneurship education in India. The primary objective of this collaboration is to mainstream social entrepreneurship education in India through sensitisation and deliberations. The institute is planning a two-year distance education programme in Social Entrepreneurship for imparting knowledge, education and skills to set up social enterprises. The Institute will also promote social entrepreneurship to facilitate holistic growth of the local economy.

MICA organises day trip
Jagriti, the student-run social service wing of MICA, organised a day trip to the Prabhat Foundation — a school for autistic children to celebrate ‘Muskaan’, an initiative that aims to spread smiles through giving. A pool of around 24 students visited the school to interact with the children, to make their day a little brighter.

Convocation at IMIS
The Institute of Management and Information Science (IMIS), a leading business school in Bhubaneswar, celebrated its 20th annual convocation at its Swagat Vihar campus. Anurag Batra, Chairman and editor-in-chief, Business World, New Delhi, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Students also presented a cultural programme.

Essay competition to focus on climate change

The 11th edition of Tata Building India school essay competition was held to focus on global warming and climate change, a unique platform to encourage young leaders to showcase their views on nation building. It targetted nearly 4 million students across 8,500 plus schools, 200 plus cities and 13 languages.

IMI Delhi hosts alumni meet
IMI Delhi hosted an alumni meet for the batches of 1985 to 2016.  Almost 250 students, many of whom have assumed senior positions in prominent companies like IBM India, DNA Retail Corp, Religare and HDFC Realty attended the meet, which included a stand-up comic act and many other activities for the returning alumni.
