Ask any common man in India what the biggest inconvenience these days is and you will hear a unanimous response — finding an ATM with money. Thanks to two youngsters from Coimbatore, you can get accurate information about ATMs with money near you.
Abishek Muthian and Aravindhan Ramachandran have designed a bot that lets you know if money is available in ATMs within 500m. Founder and CEO of a startup, Timebender Technologies India Pvt Ltd, Abishek says that the company already had the needed technology available, they just employed the idea at the right time. The team worked for two days straight to develop ATMBot. It was launched on November 16 and within 48 hours, they served 6,000 plus requests.
The database is purely crowd-sourced. The ATMBot is like your friend on Facebook, available after you click the link to access it. By chatting with the bot and turning on one’s GPS, a user can update the status of cash availability in an ATM or receive the status of the same. “Right now, we either ask friends if money is available in nearby ATMs or end up standing in a queue not knowing if there is any money in it. The ATMBot eliminates these uncertainties,” says Abishek.
Afraid that someone might know you were at an ATM and have withdrawn money? Don’t worry. The creators have ensured that user data is not stored, owing to security issues. The bot is designed in a way that it can work anywhere in the world. The reach of the app is half a kilometre currently for a reason. “In the current tsituation, by the time someone goes to an ATM a few kilometres away, the money would’ve probably been depleted,” says Abishek.
