You won’t have to miss home-cooked food again

MS Vidyanandan checks out the start-up that delivers home made food toT’puram

A group of enterprising housewives in Kerala’s capital city, Thiruvananthapuram, are cashing in on their culinary skills, thanks to a new food start-up.

Home Chefs Hub (HCH), a food start-up launched by Nishana Sameer, a Technopark employee, supplies home-cooked food anywhere in the district. The food is prepared by housewives who are currently associated with the start-up.

On the menu are a lip-smacking range of treats for breakfast, lunch, dinner as well as snacks. One can select from an array of choices ranging from Malabar cuisine to Travancore fares and even continental dishes. Nishana, an avid traveller, says that the start-up was inspired by her own craving for home-cooked food. “Eating hotel food for days together can get boring. Home-cooked food is healthy and safe, especially while one is travelling,” she states.

A huge demand for home-cooked food among Technopark employees, mostly bachelors, also encouraged her to launch Home Chefs Hub, she says.

“When I searched the internet, I found many similar start-ups in metropolitan cities across the country that are hugely successful,” she says.

According to her, HCH is more than just a start-up. “We encourage women who have a passion for cooking to become entrepreneurs, that too in the comfort of their homes,” she adds.

Nishana says that she often reminds the chefs to cook like they’re cooking for those at home.
