RAIPUR, BHOPAL: Prime  Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday kept up his attack on the opposition Congress in rallies in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Speaking at a rally in Masasamund district, the PM pitched for development and focused on farmers. He said the government led by him at the Centre had facilitated development in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Raman Singh. “The people in Chhattisgarh offered the BJP the chance to serve the state thrice on issues of development.

But the facilities needed by Raman Singh to work for development only came during the last four-and-a-half-years. For his state, the CM had to fight with the Congress-led UPA government, which was run by a remote control for ten years,” he said. “With the support of the people, the Raman Singh government took Chhattisgarh, to a higher trajectory of growth...” he claimed. Speaking at a rally in Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh, Modi accused the Congress of maintaining “double standards” on the issue of cows in different states.

“The Congress has included cow as one of the issues in its poll manifesto of MP, I don’t criticise them for it, as it’s their right. But what’s the same party’s stand on cow slaughter and beef eating in Kerala,” questioned Modi. He also launched an attack on state Congress chief Kamal Nath, dubbing him as the biggest “Raj Darbari” (courtier) of one family (Gandhi family) since the days of the Emergency.

Referring to a recent video, tweeted by several BJP leaders, showing Nath purportedly say that he wasn’t concerned about criminal records but instead, focused on winning prospects while selecting candidates, the PM said “have you all seen the video... the state Congress chief says he was ready to field goons, cheaters, criminals and corrupt people as candidates, if they are winnable...” The Congress, however, responded later in the day by filing a complaint of violation of the model code of conduct against the PM with state’s Chief Electoral Officer.

“There is no such video... A few days back, a doctored video was tweeted by BJP leaders... The Congress has already complained to the CEO as well as the state police cyber cell on November 4...” said the party’s state unit media convener Narendra Singh Saluja.
