Stalin Stays Clear of Grumpy Cadre

M K Stalin cancelled his election campaign meeting at Vriddhachalam, due to dissent among a section of the cadre.

CUDDALORE: DMK leader M K Stalin cancelled his election campaign meeting at Vriddhachalam, due to dissent among a section of the cadre, following the change of candidate just hours before his meeting on Tuesday evening.

Earlier, the DMK had announced Thanga Anandhan as the candidate for Vriddhachalam Assembly constituency. Ever since the announcement, supporters of Kuzanthai Thamizarasan have been up in arms demanding that Thamizarasan be declared the candidate.  But, the DMK announced Pavadai Govindasamy as the new candidate for Vriddhachalam on Tuesday evening.

Protesting this, hundreds of supporters of Anandhan started shouting slogans. After party functionaries passed on the message, Stalin cancelled the meeting and moved on to Neyveli.

The DMK had earlier announced Thanga Anandhan as the candidate for Vriddhachalam Assembly constituency

Anandhan, belonging to Vanniyar community, is a relative of DMK district secretary MRK Paneer Selvam

Supporters of Kuzanthai Thamizarasan, who also belongs to the Udayar community, have been up in arms demanding that Thamizarasan be declared the candidate

But surprisingly, the DMK leadership announced Pavadai Govindasamy, also a member of the Udayar community, as the new candidate for Vriddhachalam on Tuesday evening, just hours before Stalin’s visit
