BALLARI: JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda has said that Congress and JD(S) are writing a new chapter in the history of Karnataka by having a pre-poll alliance, which will be an indication for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.Speaking to reporters at Ballari on Tuesday, he said that they have already unseated BJP in Karnataka by means of coalition government and will ensure that the saffron party doesn’t remain in power anywhere in the country.

“If we win all the five seats, it will be a positive indication for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. We had a discussion and chose a common candidate. Since Ugrappa is an honest candidate, he will make a good leader. The workers of both JD(S) and Congress are working day and night to ensure our candidate’s victory,” he said.

Gowda, who addressed the media along with district in-charge Minister D K Shivakumar, said that he is campaigning to keep BJP out of power. “This will have its own impact on the assembly polls scheduled in six states across the country. It will later result into fighting the communal forces in 2019 under the aegis of Rahul Gandhi,” he said.“For this reason, I have campaigned at Shivamogga and in Ballari. I am ready to go to Jamkhandi, if Siddaramaiah wants me to go,” he announced.

When questioned about how things will change in other states in 2019, Deve Gowda said that all secular forces across the country will join hands and ensure the defeat of BJP. When asked about the differences among regional parties in some parts of the country, he said that they are all just teething troubles, which the parties will forget and move forward. “The smaller differences should be set aside considering the bigger picture of the country,” he said.

Replying to the allegations by BJP that he wasn’t present to receive the Valmiki award conferred on him during the Valmiki Jayanti, he said that he had been to London and had intimated to the organisers earlier.
Speaking about the BJP’s charge against Gowda clan regarding the stepmotherly treatment meted out to the people of North Karnataka, he said that he was the one who sanctioned money for irrigation projects here.
