Rs 2.11 crore unaccounted cash seized in Jubilee Hills ahead of Telangana assembly elections

Police received information that some people possessed huge cash and were preparing to shift the cash to selected localities for distribution for influencing voters by a political party.

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Task Force sleuths on Tuesday detained two persons for possessing Rs 2.11 crore unaccounted cash that was supposed to be distributed for Assembly elections in Jubilee Hills police limits.

Sources said that the cash belongs to Congress’ Sangareddy candidate Jaggareddy. According to police, they received information that some persons possessed huge cash and were preparing to shift the cash to selected localities for distribution for influencing voters by a political party. A team of West Zone Task Force Team conducted raids in Jubilee Hills and found the cash. The unaccounted cash was brought to the place by hawala.

Rs 4.5 lakh seized in Medchal, two arrested

Meanwhile, Medchal police detained two persons for transporting Rs 4.5 lakh unaccounted cash on Tuesday.According to police, they intercepted a car in which two persons were travelling to the city from Maharashtra. During the checks, police found Rs 4.5 lakh cash hidden in the vehicle.Police seized the cash and arrested the two as they failed to produce valid documents. The seized amount was handed over to Income Tax Department officials, police said.
