HYDERABAD: “A new national party may be formed with a consortium of regional parties very soon and the details of the new party will be released in Delhi,’’ TRS president Chandrasekhar Rao declared here on Tuesday.

“We will play a very crucial role in national politics. We will not just remain mere spectators,” Rao said speaking to newsmen at Telangana Bhavan here after thumping victory in the assembly elections. Asked whether he would handover the CM post to any other person to play a key role in national politics, Rao evaded a direct reply.

The modalities of the new national party would be finalised in consultation with economic and agriculture experts, Rao said adding that he would also consult intellectuals in Left parties. Rao, however, added that the new national party will not be an “alignment of regional parties, but an alignment of people”.  “We are going to unite the polity and people of the country. The new party is not like some four parties joining together and forming a front,” Rao said adding Telangana will be a platform to change the country.

Further speaking, Rao said he had a luncheon meeting with AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday and discussed about national politics. Attributing the Congress victories and strong showing in three BJP-ruled States as due to “lack of alternatives”, he said that people are vexed because they don’t have alternative between the Congress and the BJP.

“One party will allege Bofors and another party allege Rafale deal and both are making people bafoons. The TS model should be adopted across the country,” he said.

The so-called national parties could not resolve the disputes with Pakistan, but wanted control over a remote school in Telangana. “The concurrent list with the Centre should be scrapped. The States should be given autonomy. In USA, there is one Supreme Court to every State.  In India there is only one SC and it recently gave a judgment stating that the total reservations should not cross 50%, which is never stated in the Constitution,” he said.

TRS meet today

The TRS Legislature Party will meet at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday at 11.30 am and formally elect TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao as its leader. Asked about the date of swearing-in-ceremony of the government and the composition of the Cabinet Rao said on Tuesday: “I do not know anything. I did not so far apply my mind on it”. However, sources said that the new swearing-in-ceremony may be conducted either on Thursday or Friday, considered as auspicious days.

KCR to ‘interfere’ in Andhra politics

KCR also claimed that he was going to ‘interfere’ in AP politics. “I will definitely go to Vijayawada, why not?” Rao asked while addressing media on Tuesday. “Naidu campaigned here claiming that he wants to see Telugu people in both States live happily. Doesn’t KCR have similar feelings?” he asked in what was interpreted as a sarcastic retort.

“When somebody gives you a birthday gift, you need to give them something in return. If I do not give a ‘return gift’ to Naidu you people will think that Telangana has no culture of reciprocation. Naidu will feel the impact of my campaign in Andhra Pradesh.

There are video footages of Naidu and what he has said about Modi in the past. I will not keep quiet...” said KCR in a not-so veiled threat to his counterpart. KCR also indicated that there was no place for TDP in his proposed Federal Front. “After the thumping victory, we have received 1 lakh phone calls and umpteen text messages from AP,” KCR claimed.
