VIJAYAWADA: BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana has said that a few sections of people in Telangana, especially the settlers from Andhra Pradesh, decided to vote in favour of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) because of their anger against TDP supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He said that the defeat of the TDP in the neighbouring State was a prelude to the 2019 elections in Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to the reporters here on Tuesday, Kanna said that the Congress suffered a debacle because of Naidu. “Wherever Naidu sets his foot, it is a debacle. The people, in the areas we campaigned in Telangana, were initially against the incumbent government. But, once Naidu announced the TDP-Congress alliance, they forgot the issues they had with the TRS and voted the pink party to power.
Be it the settlers from AP or the locals, they gave an emphatic majority to the TRS because of the angst against Naidu. The TDP will meet the same fate in AP as well,” he said. He also said that the poll results were proof enough that the Telangana people did not buy Naidu’s claims that the latter was the reason for Hyderabad’s development.
Meanwhile, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan congratulated TRS supremo K Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR) and his son K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) for the win. The actor-turned-politician also extended wishes to KCR’s nephew T Harish Rao for winning the elections with the highest majority.
“The election results prove the wisdom of the people of Telangana. I completely believe that the TRS will work towards reaching the expectations and aspirations of the people, who voted it to power,” he said.
