WARANGAL: As was expected, Congress’ first list containing 65 names has been the cause of dissent and controversy. Despite the allotment of Warangal West Assembly ticket to TDP’s Revuri Prakash Reddy, DCC president Naini Rajender Reddy has purportedly decided to file his nomination papers nonetheless, and that too as a Congress candidate.

It may be recalled that some of Naini Rajender Reddy’s supporters had locked themselves up inside the party office on Sunday, demanding that the ticket be given to him. Expressing his displeasure over his party high command’s decision, Reddy said, “I have been a dedicated party member for decades. I have been denied the ticket thrice in the past. This time I was hopeful of getting the ticket but again I have been denied the opportunity. The party has left me with no option but to contest polls as a rebel,” he said.

According to Naini Rajender Reddy, Congress workers were highly disappointed with the current arrangement between Congress and TDP. “How can you expect a Congress worker to support another party’s candidate when you have betrayed his leader. The TDP candidate’s campaign in Warangal West will be disastrous,” he said. Reddy added that the people wanted him to contest polls and he was only honouring their wishes. “I have decided to file my nomination papers as a Congress candidate. We will see what happens,” he added.
