Congress announces second list of candidates for Telangana Assembly elections

The Congress had on Monday announced its first list of 65 candidates taking the total number of its nominees to 75 so far.

HYDERABAD: The Congress which is making a strong bid to wrest power in Telangana on Wednesday announced its second list of 10 candidates for the state Assembly elections slated for December seven.

Prominent candidates who figure in the second list are former MP Ramesh Rathod from Khanapur (ST) constituency and former government whip G.Venkata Ramana Reddy from Bhupalpalli constituency.

Former MLA K.Laxma Reddy was given ticket for Mechal seat,while another former MLA P.Vishnuvardhan Reddy was allotted Jubilee Hills constituency in the city.

The Congress had on Monday announced its first list of 65 candidates taking the total number of its nominees to 75 so far.

The Congress intends to contest in 94 of the total 119 Assembly seats in the state leaving the remaining 25 to the TDP (14) Telangana jana samiti (8) and the CPI (3),all partners of the Grand Alliance.

The Grand Alliance is forged by the Congress to take on the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti. The last day for filing nominations is November 19 and the polling in the state will be a single phased one.
