HYDERABAD: After intense haggling with TDP and TJS, Congress has finally released its third list on Saturday with 13 candidates with just one more day to go for filing of nominations. While former PCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah was given Jangaon after much drama between Congress and TJS, grand old party in its inimitable style dropped a bombshell by denying Sanathnagar ticket to senior leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy.
While Ponnala Lakshmaiah’s visit to Delhi to meet Rahul Gandhi and later to TJS office helped him in retaining the Jangaon constituency which he represented four terms, Shashidhar Reddy was caught unawares for not finding his name in the third list also. Just as Congress released third list, TDP announced Kuna Venkatesh Goud as its candidate for Sanathnagar, much to the chagrin of Shashidhar Reddy, who had represented the constituency thrice.
Other notable names in the list were D Sudhir Reddy, Addanki Dayakar, R Bhupati Reddy.
Addanki Dayakar, who has feared denial of Thungathurty ticket and lobbied hard in Delhi has finally succeeded. While TDP cadres bargained hard for LB Nagar, Congress retained it to pave way for D Sudhir Reddy. Candidates for Nizamabad (Rural), Boath, Devarakonda and others where there was intense competition were announced.
With this third list, Congress has announced a total 88 candidates in all. As it is contesting in 94 seats, the candidates for the remaining seats are expected to be announced late Saturday night or Sunday.
Candidates for constituencies like Devarakadra, Narayanpet, Warangal East and others where there is no agreement within party or allies have been kept pending.
