KHAMMAM: Putting up a united front against TRS, Congress working president J Kusuma Kumar and TDP’s candidate from Khammam Assembly constituency Nama Nageswara Rao condemned TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao for his statements about AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s purported letters to the Centre seeking the cancellation of Sri Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project in Telangana. The two Grand Alliance leaders were referring to Chandrasekhar Rao’s speech, made during his public meet in Palair on Monday.

Addressing media persons at the Congress’ district office here on Tuesday, Nama Nageswara Rao claimed that Naidu had never written such a letter to the Centre. In fact, he claimed, in the past, Naidu had written only sent one letter - seeking the formation of Telangana.

“There is plenty of water for both States to go round. So much it simply flows into the ocean. If Chandrasekhar Rao is really committed to the welfare of farmers, he can utilise this water instead of criticising Naidu all the time,” he said.

The TDP leader added that ‘AP and Telangana are like Naidu’s two eyes and they are equally important to him’.Nageswara Rao further said that the Chandrasekhar Rao was aware of the fact that he was about to lose power. “This is the reason he is making false statements targeting Naidu. He has failed to fulfil all his promises such as the construction of double bedroom houses and awarding of three acres land to Dalits. He had also promised to make a Dalit the chief minister. Did he do that?” he asked. The TDP leader expressed confidence that the Grand Alliance would win more than 70 seats in the elections.

“I am sure we will win all 10 seats in erstwhile Khammam district,” he declared. Meanwhile, former MLA Younis Sultan criticised the TRS government for failing to provide 12 per cent reservations to Muslims in the State. “I am sure that all Muslims from Khammam Assembly constituency will vote for Nama Nageswara Rao. The Grand Alliance needs to win this time,” he said.
