Actress and former porn film star Sunny Leone is again sizzling the box office with her second film Jackpot, after her debut in Jism 2. In conversation with City Express, Sunny confides that she is still trying to learn the tricks of the Bollywood trade.
No longer tagged as a Canadian porn star, Sunny is now doing her best to project herself as a talented actress.
“My entry to India was through Bigg Boss and I felt it was a good platform that gave me a backstage entry to Bollywood. As far as my acting skills go, I got great feedback and appreciation at the premiere of my film, Jackpot. In fact, people have started noticing me for my performances. I am a little more comfortable in front of the camera now. People say I have improved since my last film which is a good sign. I was a bit nervous when I did Jism 2 but facing the camera was easier this time,” she says.
For Jackpot, she attended a training workshop of 10-14 days which helped her to a certain extent. “During this workshop, I got to learn my dialogues, and further how to enact each scene. This was really helpful prior to shooting for the film and made it possible for me to give my best.”
Like for every actress in tinsel town, even Sunny’s dream came true after meeting the Badshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan. “Being his fan, it felt great to meet somebody like him who has worked for so many years and has done so much for the industry,” she said and added effusively, “He is so down to earth, nice and charismatic. Definitely true to his name, he is the King of Bollywood.”
Continuing in the same vein, Sunny says it was exciting to work with Naseeruddin Shah, one of the senior most actors of Bollywood.
“It was a god sent opportunity for a new actor like me to work with him. I studied his movements on and off camera at very close quarters. It was definitely a learning experience working with him,” says Sunny, who is yet to interact with other actresses in B-Town. “Sure, I will get to meet them soon,” she says with a smile.
For the larger audience, Sunny is still a mystery but she is happy that people with whom she has interacted have now understood her.
“They might be curious about my attitude but I believe in my myself. I can’t change everybody’s opinion but I have managed to charm a few,” she claims.
In India for the last two years, it has been a huge learning process for Sunny.
“It is almost like going back to school. I am learning Hindi, learning how to dance and a lot more. Bollywood is completely different from Hollywood in terms of production values. I am yet to sync into all these which might take some more time but I am improving a lot,” she signs off.
