Actor's travel tales!

Actor's travel tales!

Actress Kajol juggles time between her hectic professional life and family. “I would love to take my kids to show them the pyramids, Paris, Switzerland and generally show them all that I have seen,” reveals the 39-year-old. She talks about her most memorable trip, travelling experiences and tells us what tops her travel must-haves list, writes Swati Sharma.

Summer destination

My holidays depend on my kids. If I had to pick a holiday, I would pick a five star hotel room frankly. But for my kids, they like places which have kid friendly things to do, like a beach. They like to swim or go out to Disneyland.

Favorite memory

I have a lot of good memories because of the work I do. I have actually been to most beautiful places in the world. We actually picked them because they are beautiful places. We have been to the most beautiful places in Switzerland, America, Egypt and shot at the most beautiful times as well. I have loved shooting for all my movies so I can’t say I have hated or regretted anything. I am good with anything because frankly there is so much to choose from.

One thing you always take with you

My phone and Huggies. I can’t understand people who want to go on a holiday without their phones. I can’t live without mine. I might even take a spare phone for my kids and one for my maid or whoever is staying for my kids in the room.  Even Huggies is something I cannot do without, it is something I always carry it with me as it makes my life easier and convenient.

Camping or hotels

No, I don’t camp. You don’t camp when you have kids this small.

Worst experience

We had gone to shoot for Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha to Switzerland and that was the worst trip ever. We were stopped at Frankfurt airport because we didn’t have transit visas. The German authorities wouldn’t let us go through. I had this whole thing going through my head. I thought we might end up in a German jail where I wouldn’t be able to communicate with people about what I want since I do not understand the language. But ultimately we were allowed to go through since our visas came through later. But we were at the airport for 6-7 hours and it was the scariest 6-7 hours ever.

Dream trip

My dream trip would be to take my daughter to see all the things that I have seen. I would love to take my kids to show them the pyramids, Paris, Switzerland and generally show them all that I have seen.

Favorite place

One of the most beautiful places I have traveled to and I think about it today and have tears in my eyes is Egypt. It is such a beautiful country. It is God’s holy country. I remember seeing mountains that were black on top since they were volcanic in nature and a red dessert in front of me with a beautiful barren tree. It was just so stunning and I remember thinking this country is so breathtaking. When I think about everything that is happening in the country today, it is so sad. ‘Nazar lag gayi usko’.

Like to do most

I wish I had a ‘beam me up scotty’ kind of thing. I wish I did not have to travel from place to place. I wish I could press a button and just land up at the destination. Let me not have any travel time in between that would be what I would love to do.

Travel alone or in groups

I love traveling alone. It happens to me maybe once in seven years. This is when I really like travelling, when I am all by myself and I can do my own thing and I don’t have to talk to anybody unless I initiate a conversation and I am well taken care of.
