JOHANNESBURG: Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift's big split has dominated headlines this week and now, it is being reported that the DJ was the reason behind the breakup as he was supposedly not ready to take the relationship to the next level

Though it was initially believed that the Scottish DJ was the one to call off the 15-month relationship, a recent update says that the ‘heartbroken’ singer was left with no other option but to call it quits as he wasn’t prepared to put a ring on her finger and settle down in the foreseeable future, reports Channel24.

According to a source, the 26-year-old singer ended their nearly “adorable” relationship “as she could feel their relationship wasn't heading in the right direction.”

“It wasn't that they weren't happy, but when she raised the subject of their future, it became clear they do not want the same thing at the same time” the source said.

The source even added, though the 32-year-old DJ “absolutely adored their time together,” it could have been worse if they would have stayed together for another 15 months as “she always saw herself as a young mum” and Harris was in no hurry.

However, a source close to Harris, reportedly told that “he was ring shopping” when Swift broke off the relationship.

Meanwhile, Harris, who assured everyone that after their breakup there is still a "huge amount of love and respect" between them, was recently spotted turning that frown upside down for the cameras.
