NEW YORK: In what may break hearts of many fans, Grammy-winning legend Elton John has cancelled his shows at Caesar Palace in Las Vegas, which were scheduled for April and May, after being hospitalized for a serious bacterial infection.

During a recent tour of South America, Elton contracted a harmful bacterial infection that left him “violently ill’, the CNN quoted the Caesar's Palace’s statement posted on its Facebook page.

The singer was released on Saturday after having spent two days in intensive care.

The singer is set to resume his schedule of live performances in England’s Twickenham on June 3.

Elton’s “The Million Dollar Piano” shows him singing and playing the piano amid special effects.

The show will conclude in May 2018.
