CHENNAI: Miles away, in a small town in Jaipur, Rajasthan, nearly 200 artisans create intricate designs on lehariyas and bandhanis. Over the years, their diligent hands have transformed suits, saris, kurtis and lehengas into pieces of art under the banner of the brand Panache. This collection of traditional Rajasthani wear will be displayed in the city at Apparao Art Gallery, come August 30 and 31.

Kunal Khicha from Panache says, “All the designs are handcrafted and put together at our workshop in Jaipur.” Panache has exhibited in the city twice before. “The last time we came to the city was three years ago, and the response has been great each time we showcased our collections here,” he says.

While Rajasthani traditional works and designs are available all across India today, it originated from Jaipur and the nearby cities in Rajasthan. Also, a majority of such works are done there, he says.

The collection is priced between Rs 2,500 and Rs 25,000, and will be available at Apparao Art Gallery, Wallace Garden Road, off Khader Nawaz Khan Road, from 11 am to 7.30 pm. For more details, call Sheena Khicha, Panache at 9841627272.
