MUMBAI: Actor Prateik Babbar, who is seen doing theatre these days says, there are no second chances on stage.

Prateik, who has acted in films like "Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Naa", "Dhobi Ghat", "Dum Maro Dum" and others, thinks cinema and theatre are two different media.

"On stage you have just one chance to glory, no second chances, no second takes, one take is there to get it perfect. With this you are required to be wholly and solely completely present and aware of your job as an actor and your surroundings," Prateik told PTI.

"My learning till now has just been to be able to understand the dynamics between film and stage. Both mediums are very vastly different," he said.

His plays like "Six", "Day Before Yesterday" have been garnering good response, and as an actor, he feels satisfied when he is appreciated for the work he does.

"There is no better feeling or satisfaction for me as an actor when my work is appreciated. Also being able to achieve one's goals is hugely satisfying. Not just working your charm for your audience but at the same time also trying to charm yourself and succeeding in doing both," he added.

After turning to theatre he realised how important it is for an actor to experience being on stage.

"It's also a personal choice, it really opened many doors for me. And it expanded my mind and my abilities as an actor. It's a personal choice that I made," he adds.

Prateik turned 30 today and he is celebrating his birthday with family and friends.

"I guess it's God's way of saying it's about time you grow up. The year that has gone by has been eventful, I have been working and working consistently. I am feeling good about my job and my commitment towards it," he said.
