When Dhanush announced that he was foraying into Hollywood with the Uma Thurman-starrer Fakir, it raised many eyebrows. But now we hear that the Iranian-French director Marjane Satrapi, who was set to direct the film, will not be a part of it anymore. The reason behind this is yet to be revealed, but rumours suggest that the project has been postponed until next year.

The film is an adaptation of the 2014 novel The extraordinary journey of the fakir who got trapped in an IKEA wardrobe by Romain Puertolas.

Fakir has other actors such as Alexandra Daddario from the TV show True Detective, Captain Phillips (2013) actor Barkhad Abdi, and Seema Biswas in important roles. The novel is reportedly a story of a conman from India who travels to Paris with the purpose of visiting an IKEA store, which subsequently turns into a philosophical odyssey.
