Dhanush’s sequel to VIP directed by Soundarya Rajnikanth and stars Kajol. It is now set to release next week. Earlier the film was supposed to release last week on July 28, however it was pushed ahead. The reason for this was that the team wanted to release the film on Dhanush’s birthday (July 28) but that could not happen.

When Dhanush was quizzed about it he said, “We are trying to release all three languages simultaneously; hence the release has been pushed. We will announce it in couple of days. There no other reasons to change the date within the team, outside there are few reasons which I won’t talk about it.”

There were reports that the film might release on August 18, but now it has been declared that it will release on August 11 to cash in on the holiday weekend. Since the film is going to be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, it will have to share screens with Akshay’s film.
Akshay’s film Toilet Ek Prem Katha stars Bhumi Pednekar and the makers had announced the release date a while ago. In fact Shah Rukh Khan chose to shift his film Jab Harry Met Sejal’s date one week prior to avoid having a box office clash with Akshay’s film.
