Actor Aamir Khan has come out in support of actor Zaira Wasim, who was trolled online for her meeting with J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. The 16-year-old actor from Kashmir played the role of younger Geeta Phogat in Khan's 'Dangal'.

Khan tweeted that a bright, young, talented, hardworking, respectful, caring and courageous kid like Zaira is a role model for kids not only in India, but also across the world. He also appealed to everyone to leave Zaira alone and respect the fact that she is a 16-year-old girl and trying her best to deal with life.

Zaira's meeting with Mehbooba had irked many, as numerous people took to social media to condemn her, even for her choice of career. On Monday, she had posted an apology on her Twitter handle, apologizing for her actions.

She had written that she want to apologize to all those who she had unintentionally hurt and that she understood their sentiments considering the unrest in Kashmir during the past six months. She went on to request people to not consider her as a role model and it would be a disgrace to do so.

The actor's action brought to light the effect of cyber bullying and the disturbing tone with which she had to concede to the attack.
