Ranbir hogs limelight at kid’s fest

It was Ranbir Kapoor all the way at the inaugural of the 18th International Children’s Film Festival which got off to a glittering start here on Thursday evening. The actor was greeted by screaming fans who stood up to catch a glimpse of him as he entered the venue.

The festival was compered by 16-year-old Darsheel Safary, of Taare Zameen Par’ fame who, although nervous, managed to keep up the enthusiasm levels high, while comic antics of Saloni Daini had the audience in splits.

The audience which consisted of children, international delegates got a glimpse of the rich and diverse culture of the country with a welcome classical dance performance by children which was confluence of six dance forms. The audience was mesmerised as children showcased dance forms of Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Perini dance from the Kakatiya region. The performance ended with the dancers performing to a background flute score of Saare Jahan Se Accha which got a huge applause by the audience.

Ranbir Kapoor upped the entertainment factor by breaking into a jig as Saloni Daini matched her steps with him. The audience watched with as talented Sonali of ‘Jhalak Dhikhhla Jaa’ fame twirled with her partner Sumanth and wowed the audience with their scintillating dance performance which consisted of lifts and spins. But the show stealer was the performance by the differently abled children depicting the Bhagavat Gita.
