Adhitya had hit at a saturation point when he was consistently doing the same act over and over again. He is now trying really hard to break away from his usual action-oriented roles by taking up a rom-com film titled Sweety opposite Radhika Kumaraswamy. Considering it as a welcome change, Adithya said, "I love the change as it had become too monotonous for me to hold guns and weapons for a long time. It had become very repetitive. You are not happy when you go on the sets. I am happy that I got something different to do in Sweety which I was craving for sometime now." He further explained, "This film will see me in a glamorous role. My character is quite jovial and talkative. This is something I have never tried before and is quite challenging too.
This actor is aware that versatility cannot be explored by sticking to one particular genre. But at the same time he realised that his talent was not really put to good use. "As an actor, you can't be typecast with a single role you play. So you should push all boundaries. And, I have never tried comedy in my life. Not that this is slapstick comedy. It is situational and exciting for me," said Adhitya, who never tried going over the top even in his action films. "I have always underplayed my characters. Even Sweety is subtle and sweet film which shows a rich spoilt boy who doesn't take life too seriously and doesn't believe in relationships," he said.
Well, the actor is very well aware of the risks involved with working in a comedy film for the first time. "May be I will succeed or maybe I won't. Only time will tell. This is something I have always wanted to do and it is a blessing to have got this opportunity. Now I want to see the audience's reaction," he replied.
But he is determined to bring back the ladies to watch his films. "I don't see young girls especially college-goers watching our kind of films. I want to cater to such audiences and bring back the ladies to theatres. Bollywood has been attracting all kinds of people. Henceforth, I would like to do character roles which cater to family audiences and ladies in general.
Likewise, the actor is slowly becoming a hot favourite with the lady directors. He has worked with Sumana Kittur for Edegarike and is now shooting for another lady director Vijayalakshmi for Sweety. "I am open to work with ladies. They capture emotions, little things and lighter side of life very well. It is good to see so many lady directors coming out to do movies. For me, this is a small step to be a ladies man. My sister wants to direct a film. May be I will work with her too. A lady director today can cater to women better as she captures those beautiful moments better than a male director," he said expansively.
Adhitya is been in the industry for a long time now but recognition has come quite late for the actor. "My second lease of life was Deadly II as it was much intense than Deadly Soma. Now, I think I was waiting for the right time for people to recognise my talent. Today, they are coming out with such amazing scripts,” said the actor, who is also a huge fan of Ajay Devgn.
"I want to follow this man. He came to be an action hero and now he is an all rounder. Ajay was considered as a dark horse and today he is on par with the Khans and has even entered the 100 crore club. So being slow and steady can help me win the race, after all. Even Aamir Khan does not repeat his genres. I want to follow their path of acting. Recognition will come to an actor if he proves his mettle. I think Deadly II gave me that platform and I am sure Edegarike will give me that additional push because Sumana allowed me to shape the character myself and appreciated my efforts," he concluded.
