Bangalore boy Salman Yusuf Khan has danced his way to glory in Bollywood and now he will be making his Sandalwood debut, choreographing a song for the film Darling.
Having won two dance reality shows and featuring in two title songs — Wanted and Rakta Charitra, he has also made his acting debut with Bollywood film ABCD (Anybody Can Dance).
“The Dabba song for Darling will be my first song that I will choreograph in Kannada and I think it is a great opportunity for me to contribute to Sandalwood. It also excites me because I am a Bangalorean and there cannot be anything more that I would want. I can share my talent, my concept, my visuals through this first Kannada song,” he says.
With his dancing experience on reality shows and being associated with our own Michael Jackson, Prabhu Deva, he has ensured that his skills are tuned in the Dabba song. “I have tried to bring in a combination of tappanguchi, the Bollywood method and my own style in my choreography for this film. I started shooting the song sequence from Monday and it will go on for three days. The lead pair of Darling, Yogi and Mukhta are brilliant in their moves and director Santhu has been very co-operative. The entire team is very patient,” he says.
While director Santhu feels that this particular song will be the next sensation among Kannada audience, Salman hopes to get more work from Kannada industry after they watch the song.
When asked, Santhu explained how the song came into the movie. “Every time, we talk about doing an amazing song but with the usual sequence of hero and heroine going around trees. So I told music director Arjun Janya to do a Dabba song for me. He gave me this song and the lyrics are catchy. ‘Dabba roadalli, dabba timealli, dabba hudugi sikbitlu, dabba daaba ankondange, dabba love agihoyithu’ is sure to click with the audience,” says Santhu.
