Still basking in the success of Lucia, Satish is now readying for his next release Anjada Gandu. “As of now, the film’s songs have got popular. This is my second solo film after Lucia. I have watched the final cut, and I am confident of what we have made. I have told my producers not to worry too, the audience will work its magic,” says Satish.
Currently busy with the film’s promotions, Satish, along with his director Pradeep Raj and the film’s crew, is working on the posters. “For Lucia, I had a 30-feet high cut-out. This time, the team has chosen to go with a 60-feet cut-out of mine,” says Satish.
Having moved from an experimental film like Lucia to a commercial rom-com in Anjada Gandu, Satish says his motive is to entertain. “Lucia didn’t have any action sequences but it was entertaining. A commercial film is nothing but one that make profits and not one because it has action or larger-than-life characters and songs. All you need is an entertaining quality. Anjada Gandu does not have any violence nor double entendre. It is a thriller with a romantic feel and uses a lot of humour - in almost 60 to 70 sequences of the movie. Raju Thalukote (co-star) has brought in the North Karnataka flavour. So my intention is to offer a clean film that will reach all kinds of audiences. That’s how I have been picking up my roles,” he says.
For the producers who cast Satish in Anjada Gandu, it was his performance in Drama that won them over. Satish admits that he has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders now. “After Lucia, I realise I have to carry this film, and I am ready for the challenge. Compared to all my previous films, I have put in extra effort for Anjada Gandu,” he says.
Satish’s other projects include the experimental Kwatle Satish, which is ready for release, and Love in Mandya for which dubbing was recently completed.
Satish is a well-known face outside Sandalwood too. “After the recent Chennai Film Festival, the Tamil industry now knows who I am and I am being offered movies. A R Murugdoss messaged saying ‘I am a big fan of yours’. Seeing the likes of Mani Ratnam and Suhasini watching Lucia with me made me very a proud,” he concludes.
