Kathir to romance in Kannada

BANGALORE: Director Kathir has always journeyed down the romantic track with films like Kadhal Desam, Kadhalar Dinam and Kadhal Virus in Tamil. While his films have also been remade in Hindi, the director is planning to direct a romantic entertainer titled Nan Love Track in Kannada. The film will see the launch of a new talent, Rakshith. Popularly known as Vijay on small screen for his serial Amruthavarshini, the newbie will be known as Rakku on silver screen.

To Rakku, Nan Love Track is a youthful love story in which the lead characters have trouble confessing their love. “My serial Amruthavarshini has been running for the past two years and has got the highest TRP among all Kannada serials. The small screen made me so popular that I became the dinner table talk in every home. When people started expecting more from me, the idea of making films came to my mind,” he says.

The young talent is confident that Nan Love Track will be a trendsetter in Sandalwood even before they start shooting. He says, “Today, we don’t see good films in Kannada without formulas, stale stories and old styles of filmmaking. In order to change the pattern, we are bringing in fresh talents to the industry. Apart from director Kathir, we will have Omar, a technician from London who will handle still photography and cinematography for the film. Shyam Prasanna and Praveen, who have assisted A R Rahman, will score the music.”

Rakku finds his debut special as the team consists of passionate youngsters and an experienced director like Kathir. “The director, from what we know, has a different style of filmmaking. He has bagged a lot of awards for his films and what is impressive is that Rahman has scored the music for most of his films. The recent posters released by the team of Nan Love Track have been receiving positive responses. We are confident about the director’s work,” he says.

The film’s muhurath took place on Monday and the shooting schedule will start in Bangalore. “Most of Kathir’s films have been shot on M G Road. However this time, he plans to shoot montages along with road sequences,” he says.

According to Rakku, Kathir has launched many beautiful heroines into tinsel town, including Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Heera among others.

“He is very good at launching new actors. This time, he is launching Niveditha, who is from Mangalore,” he says.
