A Song Celebrating 'Bottle Mani'

The song Banda Nodu Bottle Mani in the film Raja Rajendra directed by Pon Kumar has the potential to become an instant hit  with a recognisable theme. The song is introduced with the actor dancing against a large number of colourful glass bottles, and celebrating its hero Sharan, who is known as Bottle Mani in the film. Around 2 lakh bottles was used to create a huge backdrop on the street at the Mohan B Kere studio in Nelamangala.  The makers of the film along with Sharan, took four days to complete the entire shoot.

Filmmaker Uday Mehta who is overlooking the making of the film was thrilled to witness the good work going on behind the making of this particular song and the film itself. "Apart from bottle street, we also set up a market street for the same song. The first day of the shoot was at HMT Road and for the last three days we used Mohan B Kere studio. We had around 200 dancers for the song who matched steps with the hero Sharan," says Uday.

According to Uday, Raja Rajendra will be a total entertainer for the whole family. “Sharan is shown as a character called Bottle Mani and during the interval, it will be revealed who Raja Rajendra is. Let me clarify that the mythological element in the film is actually a small part of it and it is not a period film. Along with Ishita Dutta, the film also stars 18 character artistes including Ravishankar, Tabla Nani, Sadhu Kokila, Rmakrishna among others.” he signs off.

“Vimala Raman to take us back in history”

It is important, as a heroine to know how much she is in demand with the filmmakers who wait to cast her in the desired roles. And so is the case with Vimala Raman, who was the only choice for a prominent role in Raja Rajendra. Apparently, the producer wanted her so much that he waited for her to return from America to sign her on and even went in for an extra two days of shooting in mid- November. Uday says, “Vimala Raman’s character will take us back in history where she will play a queen. We have watched her previous films and she has proved her talent especially in period roles that have artistic value.  And so we didn’t mind waiting for her. She will be joining the team around November 14 for a few days of shoot.”
