Meghana not Ready for Marriage

It is good to note that our very own Kannada actress Meghana Raj, who has established herself in the Malayalam industry with a handful of projects has now shifted her focus to Sandalwood. Meghana currently has three back-to-back films. “I am simultaneously shooting for Vamshodaraka directed by Chikkanna and KM Chaitanya’s Aatagara. I will follow it with TS Nagabharana’s Allama Prabhu from January 2015. Luckily  was pushed further because of Nagabharana’s son Panaga Bharana wedding. Otherwise I would have had to schedule dates for three films at the same time,” she says.

The actress  will leave for Karwar soon along with the crew of Aatagara, which is a typical multistarrer with around 10 actors in the film. Meghana is more than happy to be working in a film that has many actors in it. “It helps us to bond better. To top it, I know most of the actors who are part of Aatagara including Anu Prabhakar and Prakash Belawadi among others. Since I come from a film family, I get to interact with these actors on various occasions. So, it is comfortable working with them and it helps create a better environment. Also, being alone on the sets, sometimes gets boring. I like  to have somebody by my side to talk between the shots, which will be easy with the large team of Aatagara,” she says.

Though she is yet to sign another project in Malayalam, Meghana is eagerly looking forward to the release of Dolphins starring Suresh Gopi and Anoop Menon. “The film is about relationship that happens without the protagonists seeing each other. Dolphins is releasing in theatres across Kerala this week,” reveals Meghana, adding, “I have another interesting subject in Malayalam, which I hope to sign. If I take it up, I will be working with Prakash Rai and that’s what is attracting me. The only requirement from my end is a bunch of dates from them, which I hope to schedule accordingly,” she says.

Meghana has also been in the news for personal reasons with her name often mentioned alongside Chiranjeevi Sarja, and according to the buzz, they are a couple.

Ask the actress, about it and she says, “It is possible that my name is popping up often because I am working with him in Aatagara.” On further prodding Meghana replies, “There is nothing to accept or deny here right now. Whether I talk about it or not,  all manner of  gossip will be constructed about it anyway. I can speak about something if it involves me or my immediate family. But, I can’t answer for everybody,” she says.

In fact, according to the rumour mills, a wedding date has already been fixed for Meghana and Chiru sometime next year. How does she intend to handle the situation?

“As an actress, these things are bound to happen to us. I never shy away from such questions. I know Chiru for a long time. We were neighbours before and now are good friends. Secondly, from my end, I think it is too early to talk about marriage. I am not prepared for it at this stage. Getting married will be a big thing and I will announce it to the world and not hide it. If not me, my parents would want to have see their daughter getting married in a grand style,” says Meghana, adding, “Why is that everybody is asking me and not Chiru. I prefer to stay mum about this,” she says.
