The remake of the Telugu hit Attarinktiki Daredi in Kannada has been titled Ranna. Director Nanda Kishore had reportedly been toying with two names for the title - Ranna and Bhargava - before settling on the former.

“Ranna in other words, is a gem, a sweet heart. People usually call their loved ones Ranna. Sudeep in the film is everybody’s sweetheart and the name Ranna suited his character,” the director explains.

It is interesting to note that director Nanda Kishore had to undergo a lot of tension to get this title for the movie.

Apparently, the name was registered by a producer of another banner, who gave permission to use the title, only by late night on Monday.

“We wanted to release the posters of Ranna on Sudeep’s birthday, for which we had discussed with the producer who owned the rights to the title, a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, he took time to transfer the title, and it was done only by 10 pm on Monday. We are now coming up with digital posters and will follow with the rest of the publicity. All said and done, our team is now happy with the title,” says Nanda Kishore.

The first schedule of Ranna was recently completed in Hyderabad. “The second schedule of the film will begin from September 16,” he says.
