At times, being absent-minded is good: Ganesh

Although actor Ganesh has shown his romantic side in most of his films, his comic timing is something which never goes unnoticed. One only needs to see him in his comic avatar and it becomes obvious to believe that excelling in making people laugh is an art which needs a certain knack and the actor has surely mastered it well. With his upcoming film Sundaranga Jaana, which is slated for release this Friday, Ganesh gets to tickle your ribs for the entire length of the movie.

Directed by Ramesh Aravind, the actor reveals that his character, Lucky, is an absent-minded person which creates the main foundation for the comedy sequences, but he lends a touch of philosophy to his character when he says, “At times, being absent-minded is good provided it helps you to forget the negativities without forgetting the positivity in your life. To achieve something we need to lose something and that’s what Lucky’s role is all about. To portray this role, I just had to be natural and I am sure people will remember my forgetful character,” he says.

According to him, comedy is a tough art and demands creative impulses to ooze rather than trickle. “I really admire comedians whose only job is to make people laugh. Charlie Chaplin made everybody laugh with his revolutionary comedy, but every actor cannot be a Chaplin because making people laugh cannot be everybody’s cup of tea. One can build up on romance and action, but comedy needs originality and one cannot fake it,” he says.

Speaking about Ramesh Arvind helming the film, Ganesh shares that the actor-director knows how to handle humour, having previously directed films like Rama Shama Bhama among others. “The life of an absentminded youth gets better under his vision. Though most of my films are filled with humour, which is in parts, this film is total comedy, which is a first time for me. Of course, there is a little emotion which is required to complete the film. Otherwise, this is a laughter riot,” he says.
Sundaranga Jaana made under Rockline productions and Allu Aravind features Shanvi Srivastava in the
