Mandya to Mumbai marks the debut of Amrutha Rao in Sandalwood. The film directed by Raajashekar is a remake of a Tamil film, Renigunta with Armutha being paired opposite Rakesh Adiga.

The youngster, who is excited with her first film finally seeing its day of release, tells City Express that she had a challenging start.
“I had to play a 16-year-old girl, who is deaf and mute. Though I had watched the original, bringing in my own interpretation to the role was a task. Moreover, I had to play with my expressions,” says Amrutha, who had no intention to enter the industry till this project was offered to her.

“I was studying for my graduation degree. The director is hopeful that I will do big in tinsel town. Bharatanatyam was the only skill I had, and it helped me with expressions and facing the camera,” she says. The film also features Sanjjanaa who plays a pivotal role along with Kadipudi Chandru. The film’s music is scored by Charan Raj and has cinematography by Darshan Kanaka and Vishwesh Shiva Prasad
