City Express speaks to the actor, who is reticent but lets us know that he and a few other people are currently working to get Sundar P Gowdru, producer of Maasti Gudi, out of custody. Director Nagashekhar, stunt director Ravi Varma, unit manager Bharat are other crew members accused in the case.

"I have lost my best friends and but I am not in a position to say anything right now," says Vijay. "All I can say is that the producer Sundar is innocent and he cannot be held responsible in this tragic case. His only responsibility is to invest in the film. He is a victim and, it is painful that he has been put behind bars."

Citing an example of two other films Lock up and Ticket Ticket, Vijay says, "The were tragic incidents even during their shoot, but the producer was not arrested. In Maasti Gudi too, Sundar's  responsibility was to ensure that the finances reached the crew during its making".
Vijay says that he is helpless and his hands are tied because the law is not under his control.
Maasti Gudi features Amulya and Kriti Kharbanda as female leads and has, in the star cast, B Jayashree, Dattana, Bullet Prakash and Srinivas Murthy.

The producer had not spared any expense for the movie's promotion. He had invested ` 30 lakhs to bring out a mobile game that draws from the film. They were to release six levels of the game during its making, and the seventh level on the day of the movie's release.
