Puneeth Rajkumar’s career graph shows him to be a favourite in Sandalwood and an actor who has worked with well-known directors from other industries.

The actor worked with Puri Jagannath for his first film Appu, then worked with director Sarvanan in Chakravyuha. Even Gautam Menon has set aside a script for Puneeth, with the movie just about to go on floors. The latest is that the actor is about to work with Visaranai director, Vetrimaaran, for a film to be made under Rockline Productions.

Vetrimaaran and Rockline Productions have associated together earlier, with Venkatesh taking the remake rights of Visaranai to be made in three other south Indian languages and in Hindi too. Our sources say that in all likelihood Puneeth’s next, after Anjaniputra with Harsha, will be with Vetrimaaran. But a confirmation on this can only be given once the the script and dates are finalised.

Vetrimaaran was in Bengaluru last week for the 9th Bengaluru Internatioanl Film Festival, when he spoke extensively about the making of Visaranai. On his film with Puneeth, we hear that the star has okayed the script and the initial work for it has started. The filmmaking will start in earnest in the second half of 2017.

Our source says, “The actor-director have had three rounds of discussions on the script a few months ago and it was only last Saturday that the actor finalised on the story.  It was when the two met at Puneeth’s residence, along with Rockline Venkatesh. The other details will be revealed from the production house once when the director  is ready with the script.”

Meanwhile, Puneeth’s film Raajakumara directed by Santhosh Ananddram is likely to see a summer release, the date for which is set at March 24.
