‘Pure’ love finds the perfect serenaders on v-day

Music directors Ajay-Atul created history in the Marathi industry with Sairat’s music, and the duo will be testing waters in Sandalwood by composing songs and background score for its Kannada remake Manasu Mallige.

The makers have decided to release the audio on Valentine’s Day and director S Narayan says, “The duo opened a new chapter in Marathi industry with their music and I was told that the film fetched ` 12 crore from the album alone, breaking all records. And whoever has listened to the songs have been won over... we were told that they were the heroes of Sairat. So, we are glad to have them for our film.”

“Ajay-Atul have done justice to the Kannada version too, keeping in mind the local taste. Of course, when it is a remake, comparisons are bound to happen. Fortunately or unfortunately, our cosmopolitan city may have watched films in many languages, which is not the case in other regions. So it becomes a challenge and a responsbility too. Thankfully,  the Manasu Mallige has great music and on par with Sairat,” says the director.

The film has five songs and Narayan wanted to release them on Valentine’s Day because it is a love story. “After many years, we will see a pure love story on screen in Kannada,” he says. “I believe, after Cheluvina Chittara, this is a movie that has dealt with love in such depth. So I was keen on bringing it out on Valentines Day,” he says.

Two songs from the album have been sung by the music directors themselves while Sonu Nigam, Shreya Goshal and Chinmay Sripad have rendered their voices for the other three songs.

The film made under Rockline Productions has Rinku Rajguru and Nishant in the lead. With post-production nearly done, the movie may see an early summer release.
