Hemanth M Rao, who strided into direction with Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu in 2016, has won the Gollapudi Srinivas National Award for best debut film. Starring Rakshit Shetty, Anant Nag and Sruthi Hariharan, the film revolves around a missing person, who is an Alzheimer’s patient.

The film has been nominatied among the various languages including Tamil, Malayalam with jury consisting of Poornima Bhagyaraj and director Rajendra Singh Babu. Hemanth, is overwhelmed to  receive the award at a functionto be held on Augustat Music Academy, Chennai.  

He says, “It’s a great honour to be receiving this award. More so because it is the first time a Kannada film is getting this award. To be on the same list of awardees as Aamir Khan, Paresh Mokashi, Ram Madhvani and Amit Rai is an incredible feeling,” he says.
