‘Nobody can replace anybody in the Industry’

says Rachita Ram, who has been paired opposite Duniya Vijay in Johnny Johnny Yes Papa, a sequel to Johnny Mera Nam, which featured Ramya as the female lead

Rachita steps into Ramya’s shoes in PreethamGubbi’s directorial Johnny Johnny Yes Papa and has been paired opposite Duniya Vijay for the first time. This is the sequel to Johnny Mera Nam, which featured Ramya as the female lead. If we recall, Rachita was brought in place of Ramya in Darshan-starrer Bulbul too. Thus, she started her career in tinsel town. Till date Rachita has managed to be part of some interesting projects and has worked with the top Sandalwood stars. She says, “Nobody can replace anybody in the industry.”

She adds, “I am a big fan of Ramya and I have no intention of overshadowing her or any other  actress. I have always wanted filmmakers to cast me for my talent in acting. In fact, when Preetham and his team announced the sequel, I thought Ramya would make a comeback. I also got to know from them that they had approached the actress and she was keen on it. But since she is now focussed on her political career, she could not come on board.

I believe that I can only be part of projects that are  meant for me.”
Rachita has been in the industry for four years and is only happy to follow Ramya’s footsteps. “I am always happy when people say  ‘after Ramya, it is Rachita’. I want to essay those roles that wer done by Malashree and Ramya, who were trendsetters,” she says.

The actress is also excited to be part of sequel. “I have watched Johnny Mera Nam and the romcom was a total entertainer. With Preetham keeping the Johnny and Priya characters, along with the other artistes, in the sequel, we are sure to give the audience a good time.”
About being paired opposite Duniya Vijay, she says, “He is a versatile actor. Though he is known to Sandalwood as an action hero and has a mass appeal, he does well in romcoms too, and Johnny Mera Naam is a good example. His comic timing is perfect and he has a good sense of humour.”
Johnny Johnny... produced under Duniya Talkies will go on floors from July and the filmmakers  have roped in V Harikrishna as its music director.
