Raambo 2 has been doing well at the box office. Now, the latest buzz is that the makers plan to carry forward the success of their film with a franchise. Starring Sharan in the lead, the film features Ashika Ranganath, Chikkanna, Sadhu Kokila and Ravi Shankar. With a fantastic opening here, the film has also crossed borders last week by releasing in the US.  Tharun Sudhir, one of the producers, says, “Take Rambo released in 2012 and Raambo 2, the film had humour, while also being content-driven. It has left a good impression on audiences, and the only way to carry forward this success is with a franchise.”

Interestingly, the technicians who turned producers for the film, are interested in being part of the future instalments. “Even Sharan wants to continue with the series under his banner, Laddoo Cinemas,” says Tharun, who cites examples from Bollywood such as Golmaal, Welcome, Don and Krissh franchises , and how audiences connected with sequels. Compared to B-Town, sequels in Sandalwood are less popular.
Except for the Dandupalya crime series, which is now in its fourth installment, sequels have stopped after a second film. Since we were able to bring in the audiences for Raambo 2, we hope to come out with one installment every year,” says Tharun, who also hints on a titles such as Raambo Returns, and so on,” he says.

However, Tharun also makes it clear that installments will be only made provided there is a good story. “We might rope in different directors, and the characters might change too. It is an idea that has been discussed a lot, and will be taken forward once Sharan and the other the technicians are through with their prior commitments. But only when we have a good story, will we take this forward,” he says.
